Stanley 95 Review By: I.Ball
Category: Specialist Planes
Manufacturer: Stanley
Plane Type: Edge Trimming
Model No: 95
The Stanley Edge Trimming plane number 95.
This plane is used for final trimming of jointed boards.
It allows the planing of smooth edges exactly 90 degrees to the face.
The low angle blade set at a skewed angle allows the planing of end-grain.
It can also plane bevels in a controlled manner.
The plane was made from cast iron and was finished with black japanning.
The early planes had the body cast with 'PAT.5.14.12'.
The Stanley 95 planes are becoming increasingly hard to find. If you can't find an old Stanley 95 Plane, you may wish to consider a Veritas Edge Trimming Plane which is very similar in design.
