Veritas Small Router Review By: I.Ball

Category: Routers

Manufacturer: Veritas

Tool Type: Router

Model No: N/A

The Veritas small router is the smallest of the standard Veritas router range.

The Veritas small router is Veritas's version of the Stanley 271 router and the Record 722 router.

Veritas have made a miniature version of the large Veritas router plane. The Veritas miniature router is smaller than the Veritas small router and forms part of the Veritas miniature range.

The router has a ductile cast iron body fitted with a 1/4" straight cutter.

The router is used for cutting, cleaning and smoothing grooves / depressed surfaces parallel with the surface of the work.

The router cutter can be set facing to the front for regular work or it can be set towards the rear for bull-nose work.

The forward facing position has a closed mouth for maximum control when bridging recesses.

The router cutter is placed in the router facing the preferred way, with the stem passing upwards through the blade clamp collar and with the bevel side of the cutter facing upwards.

When switching between functions the clamping mechanism must be repositioned to correspond with the required function.

The brass knurled edged blade locking nut has a spring loaded design which helps by holding the cutter in place when making adjustments and helps prevent the blade falling through.

The cutter is secured and released by turning the brass knurled edged blade locking nut.

The depth of cut on the small Veritas router is set by hand up to a maximum depth of 25mm (1"); there is no fine adjustment with this router.

The router body has a machined and ground flat sole with the upper side finished with a black finish.

The router is presented in a brown cardboard box with a photo label of the small router and the core details. The box also contains a Veritas small router instructions leaflet.

The patented Veritas router plane is made in Canada.
