This review contains photos and info about the Record 055 Spokeshave
also referred to as the blue Record Concave Spokeshave.
The Record Concave Spokeshave No. 055 is a spokeshave with a concave
sole / hollow sole suited to rounding work such as on a shapely chair
or table leg, and suited to quickly round any nosing or edge.
The Record 055 spokeshave is coloured in the deep Record blue.
The concave shave is marked 'No' and '055'.
The blade is manually adjusted into position.
The blades are locked in position using the securing screw.
The handles on the 055 are advertised as a 'raised handle'; the handles are arched
and raised slightly above the core middle section.
Each handle has a circular hole cut in the end to allow the tool to be hung from
a hook in the workshop.
There are manufacturers making some new concave spokeshaves (at the time of writing)
in the form of the
Clifton Concave Spokeshave
and the
Veritas Concave Spokeshave.
