The brass back E J Birch tenon saw is an old English tenon saw fitted
with a Beech handle.
The saw handle is secured to the blade with two brass split-nut buttons.
The split-nut buttons sit flush with the handle. They are flat on the
front side and have a special split-nut slot on the reverse side.
The split-nut slot requires a special split-nut screwdriver to adjust
the split-nuts.
The saw shown is 14 inches in length and has 12 teeth per inch (tpi).
There were different lengthed and tpi versions of this saw produced.
